Currently living in Dunedin, making candles from my little home studio. But let’s rewind a bit.

Back in 2020, I got injured playing sport and ended up sidelined for 18 months. That time hit hard, and my mental health took a knock.

Candle-making became part of how I coped. I started blending essential oils, slowing down, and focusing on my well-being. It helped more than I expected and kicked off a journey of self-development I’m still on.

Sea Zen was born from that.

What are your candles made from?

Our candles are hand-poured in New Zealand using natural soy wax, pure essential oils, and cotton wicks. They're free from paraffin and other unnecessary additives.

Are your candles strongly scented?

Our candles are naturally scented with pure essential oils, creating a subtle, relaxing aroma rather than an overpowering fragrance.

How long do your candles burn?

Burn time depends on the size of your candle:

  • Small: At least 8 hours
  • Medium: At least 16 hours
  • Large: At least 30 hours

For the best burn and longest candle life, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges during each burn. This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures you get the most out of your candle.

Why do you use essential oils instead of fragrance oils?

At Sea Zen, we believe what you bring into your home matters. That's why we scent our candles with pure essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance oils.

Essential oils are naturally derived from plants and create a softer, more authentic aroma that's designed to complement moments of relaxation, mindfulness, and wellbeing.
